More than 3.5 billion people around the world already use a smartphone. It is estimated that at least 3 billion people have played a mobile game at least once, which gives absolutely cosmic statistics. Today we will check how gaming is performing on the latest Oppo Reno6 Pro 5G phone, equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor and 12GB of RAM.

I decided to launch over a dozen of the most popular mobile games, which in recent months were most often downloaded from the Google Play store. I am talking here, of course, about more demanding productions.

Oppo Reno 6 Pro specifications

In the Oppo Reno6 Pro 5G phone, next to the Snapdragon 870 processor, one core of which spins up to 3.2 GHz, there is also the Adreno 650 graphics chip, and the whole thing is supported by a fast 12 GB of RAM. The smartphone works under the control of the latest Android 11 with the ColorOS overlay in version 11.3 (and in November the update to Android 12 and ColorOS 12). The manufacturer also used an excellent, 6.5 “AMOLED display with a resolution of 2400x1080p with a 90 Hz refresh rate and 180 Hz touch sensitivity, which should translate into a much faster response of the screen while playing.

However, I will start with the design of the phone. It weighs about 188g, making it very light, and at the same time it is less than 8 mm thick. This means that it does not tire our hands and we can play it for many long hours without a break. Thin edges facilitate the proper grip, and the matte, plastic backs of the phone, even during a long load, become at most slightly warm. Oppo, in terms of the construction of the cooling system, did a great job. After a few hours of playing, the temperature never exceeded 40 degrees.

It’s a great value, hats off, gentlemen, designers. It is also important that the island with the cameras only slightly protrudes beyond the smartphone’s back, and its size makes it very easy to hold it in a horizontal position. It does not bother us at all, and even while holding a finger on it, we do not feel any discomfort. There are phones on the market that are designed much worse in this respect.

Let’s fire up the first set of games on Oppo Reno6 Pro 5G

I started with something especially close to my heart and at the start I turned on GTA: San Andreas, which until recently had high hardware requirements at maximum settings. Fortunately, there was no problem with the Oppo Reno6 Pro 5G smartphone. I chose the highest possible details of image quality and resolution scaling.

The gameplay was perfectly smooth, devoid of artifacts and bugs that pop up in this game (surprisingly) on Samsung’s Exynos chips. Stereo speakers complete the effect. It was difficult for me to complain about anything, because playing on a 6.5 “screen in this quality is very pleasant. Most importantly, however, the smartphone did not heat up for a moment.

Then it was time for Call of Duty Mobile and Asphalt 9: Legends.

In the first case, I turned on the highest graphics quality settings and the number of generated frames to very high. In addition, all the “goodies” launched, i.e. bloom, smoothing the edges or advanced shadows. As you can guess, Oppo had no problem to guarantee absolutely smooth gameplay. What I must admit, in games of this type, the 180 Hz sampling was the best.

I had no major problems with achieving absolutely great results in multiplayer, defeating enemies in each of the 1 vs. 1.When it comes to Asphalt 9: Legends, Oppo Reno6 Pro allows you to select maximum details and turn on 60 frames per second. There are no slowdowns or stutters while playing, and the whole thing is absolutely perfect. It’s a pleasure to play in such conditions.

I turned on World of Tanks, which also did not have any problems. Need for Speed No Limits and Sonic Dash also flickered without a hitch. It was difficult for me to bend this smartphone anyway. Regardless of which game I decided to check, Oppo Reno6 Pro performed great in each of them. FIFA Football, although it is not particularly attractive on mobile devices, was able to draw me to the screen for over two hours. I also downloaded Real Racing 3, which was very demanding at one time. I haven’t played it for a long time, but I remember especially beautiful graphics and very polished vehicle models.

Racing Games

However, the memory is a bit unreliable, because after the first few minutes I did not feel this effect, as I used to, but I must admit that the gyro control of vehicles was great. Driving them on the track with automatic acceleration is pure pleasure.

I am very positively surprised by the speed of the built-in memory for user data. Oppo has installed memory with a capacity of 256GB, the read speed of which is above 1660 MB / s, and the write speed is nearly 800 MB / s. That is enough for the loading times of individual productions to be counted in seconds. Installing games is literally a moment, so Oppo Reno6 Pro also has nothing to be ashamed of in this respect.

I downloaded a very attractive-looking Cover Fire – a shooter on rails that can be run in 120 frames per second. As you can guess, it works smoothly, without any, even the slightest drops in animation. There is also a control panel at the player’s disposal, sliding from the upper left corner (when the smartphone is held in a horizontal position). We can see both the system temperature and the battery charge percentage and from this level, we can mute all notifications and adjust the sensitivity of the touch. We also have access to a special performance mode which, at the expense of the battery, maintains the maximum possible CPU and GPU clocks.

Gaming Victory

Oppo Reno6 Pro is “almost” a flagship smartphone, which at the price of PLN 3699 (if we look at the premium segment + flagships, it is a very affordable offer) offers excellent performance for players. Regardless of the production run, each one works without any drops in the number of frames, with the highest possible quality of details. Genshin Impact is the only game at the moment in which you have to mix ultra and high settings, but this is the only exception. The phone is great in the hand, does not heat up at all and has a great, very bright screen (up to 1100 nits).

In addition, the built-in stereo speakers complete the effect, and the battery allows for several hours of continuous play. As soon as we discharge the smartphone to a few percent, it takes less than half an hour to charge it to the full hundred.

All thanks to the 65W charger included in the set. Any fan of mobile gaming can buy Oppo Reno6 Pro with confidence. The Snapdragon 870, despite the fact that it is not a flagship position, does great even in synthetic tests, and thanks to the high clock speed of the cores, it can overtake the Snapdragon 888 in some competition phones. Fairy tale!
