When it comes to digital workspaces in 2025, Notion and Microsoft Loop stand out as top contenders for teams and individuals focused on productivity, collaboration, and workflow automation.
Both platforms have undergone significant upgrades, introducing new features and deeper integrations. Here’s an expert-level comparison to help digital marketers and advanced users decide which is right for their needs.

Microsoft Loop and Notion are two task management and collaboration tools. Opposing Notion, Microsoft is entering the market with its new tool Loop. Who will be the strongest?
Loop will be released in March 2023, launched by Microsoft, unlike Notion, which was launched in 2016 and is already used by 20 million users (do you have 20 million customers?).
However, Microsoft’s Office 365 suite already claims 250 million, so that’s a lot of potential users for Loop.
For both tools, the goal remains the same: collaborate, manage and centralize everything in one place.
| Feature | Notion | Microsoft Loop |
|---|---|---|
| Customization | Full block-based freedom, flexible | Predefined templates, component-centric |
| Integration | 70+ apps, API, external workflows | Deep Microsoft 365 integration |

| Forms & Email | Embedded Mail & Forms (2025) | None |

Notion offers a wide range of useful templates for all areas of your business, including marketing, HR, product, sales, and even personal development. These well-designed page templates help users quickly create an organized workspace.
On the contrary, Loop currently only offers around ten page templates, which are more or less similar.
Notion is therefore the best choice if you are new to productivity tools.
As with templates, Loop doesn’t have a full complement of components. Currently, there are only three templates: a task list, a voting table, and a progress tracker.
Otherwise, it’s the same features as Notion, like heading levels, bulleted lists, and separators. So, not crazy…
On the Notion side, the possibilities are more numerous: boxes, code snippets, breadcrumbs, table of contents, links to other pages, etc.

As you can see, Notion wins this point again.
Notion has a very active community that has been strongly committed to the brand for years. Today, it includes ambassadors, experts, and even certified Notion consultants/freelancers.
At Loop, the community isn’t fully developed yet, as the product is still very new. However, it has the significant advantage of being part of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, which is already used by many companies. This promises to be a huge community in the making.
Notion regularly rolls out core updates, bug fixes, performance improvements, and new features.
For Loop, which is still too young, it’s hard to say. We’ll see in 2023.
There are plenty of apps that integrate easily into Notion. The “embed” function for an external link also allows you to customize the display of content on the Notion page.
On the Loop side, its big advantage is its connection with the entire Microsoft 365 environment. So if you are already a user of the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel or even PowerPoint), Loop will be more suitable because all your files will already be compatible to be synchronized in the tool.
Our last argument, and not the least, is obviously the databases! This is even the major advantage that makes Notion one of the most powerful tools.
They are non-existent at Loop… at least for now.
Notion is a must-have for many companies that have already built an advanced environment for their notes, project tracking, wiki, etc. for several months or even years. If this is the case for you, we recommend sticking with Notion. Migrating an entire internal organization is a long and complicated process, especially if you want it done right.
If you’re new to no-code productivity tools, it’s also a good idea to start with Notion because you have the option to use templates. Plus, you’ll find templates that are suitable for both professional and personal use.
On the other hand, if you’re already a Microsoft 365 user, you can get started with Loop. Integration with your other Microsoft suite files will be easier. And we have no doubt that a giant like Microsoft is planning great improvements to the tool in the future.
